If you’re travelling with children, keeping them occupied is pretty high on the holiday priority list! While Pembrokeshire’s beaches are usually a big hit with families, there are also plenty of attractions around the county to keep children entertained whatever the weather. So we’re sharing our four favourite family attractions in Pembrokeshire.
The Dinosaur Park
If your kids are obsessed with dinosaurs, The Dinosaur Park near Tenby is a brilliant family day out. With life-sized dinosaur trails, adventure playgrounds, rides and plenty of outdoor space to explore, it’s a great attraction for younger children with lots of energy to burn off. There are also indoor activities and cafés on site, so it’s a handy option if the Pembrokeshire weather isn’t behaving itself. From meeting roaring dinosaurs to enjoying rides and play areas, there’s enough here to keep the whole family entertained for hours.
Heatherton World of Activities
Another attraction to suit family members of all ages, Heatherton World of Activities down near Tenby is a firm favourite with both locals and holidaymakers. With indoor and outdoor activities, there’s always something to do here, whatever the weather. Heatherton has a wide range of activities on offer, including mini golf, bumper boats, paintballing, bowls, go karting, shooting, archery and giant jumping pillows, as well as junior and senior tree-tops trails if you have a head for heights. You can even bring your dog and have a go at the canine agility course, or see if you and the family can puzzle your way out of an escape room.
Folly Farm
Folly Farm remains one of Pembrokeshire’s most popular family attractions for good reason. With over 750 animals in their zoo, a vintage indoor fairground, petting barn and huge adventure play areas it’s a top destination for families with children. They’ve got everything from farmyard and domestic animals to the more exotic, like zebras, lemurs, meerkats, squirrel monkeys, penguins, giraffes, lions and rare rhinos. It’s just as much fun on a sunny day as it is when the weather isn’t so good, which is a bonus when you’re not sure about the forecast. It’s educational too – with plenty of activities to help children learn more about the animals and conservation work. A lovely day out for all the family.
Manor Wildlife Park
Another one for animal lovers, Manor Wildlife Park boasts Wales’s only walking safari. Again, there are a huge number of animal species to meet here – from tigers and red pandas to gibbons and southern white rhinos. You can even pet the giant bunnies and hand feed the wallabies if you want to, and don’t miss the opportunity to book a wildlife experience, where you can find out what it’s like to be a keeper and get a closer look at your favourite animals. There’s also a giant indoor play area and bouncy castle where the kids can get rid of all their pent-up energy. And they can have a go at scaling new heights on the state-of-the-art, interactive ‘Digiwall’ climbing challenge.
